Upgrading from XP Home Edition to XP Professional

I own a new copy of Windows XP Professional (NOT the upgrade edition) and
wanted to upgrade one of my XP Home Edition computers with it. When I tried
I got a message that the version I have does not support upgrades, yet I have
seen several places on this board that seem to say that it should - one
directed me to a chart on http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpupgrad.htm that indicates
that an upgrade is possible with the full version of XP Pro. Is there a
startup parameter I need or something? I sure would appreciate any help on
this, especially from an MVP.
Thanks,
Charles Damsel

Only a "Retail Upgrade" or "Retail Full" (boxed versions)
of Windows XP Professional can upgrade over
an existing Windows XP Home Edition installation.

It appears you acquired an "OEM Version" which
may only be used to perform a "Clean Install" and
not an upgrade.
