I bought a laptop a couple of months back and it has Windows XP Home
SP2 installed. I have another copy of XP Pro and two CD's with SP1 and
SP2 on them. I'd like to upgrade the laptop to XP Pro but not sure how
I want to do this. I've heard slip streaming mentioned but not
familiar with it. Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob

As long as the versions are retail, you can create slipstreamed SP1 or SP2
XP CD's and use them to upgrade Home to Pro. OEM versions can be
slipstreamed, but will only do clean installs.
Links to create Slipstreamed version can be found here.
Setup cannot continue because.....newer...version.

Do you mean that XP Home and XP Pro have to be retail? I trhink the
Home version that came with the HP laptop has an OEM or HP version of
XP Home.

I could have probably worded it better, but you CAN upgrade OEM versions.
You CAN'T use OEM versions to upgrade.
