Hi there,

My old PC was dead. I bought a new Dell PC with OEM XP Home SP2 installed. I
have old retail version XP Pro Upgrade, which does not have SP1 or SP2. Does
anyone know how to upgrade the OME XP Home SP2 machine to XP Pro by using the
old CD?

Thanks

It appears your version of Windows XP Pro
does not include SP2. To resolve this issue,
you can easily make a new Windows XP Pro
CD with SP2 slipstreamed in, then upgrade.

Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming
(integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze:

or

AutoStreamer 1.0.33 (preferred)

You could slipstream SP2 to your XP Pro.

Create an XP Pro installation CD slipstreamed with SP2.

Good Day Carey, GreenieLeBrun, and Rock,

Thank you all for the help. I have successfully upgraded my new Dell XP Home
SP2 OEM machine to Pro SP2 by following the instructions you gave me.

Instead of creating new CD, I simply copied all the files on my Gold XP Pro
upgrade CD to C drive, downloaded and extracted SP2, used the command of
'C:\XP-SP2\i386\Update\Update.exe -S:C:\XP" to update the Windows
Installation files, and then double-clicked the setup.exe file to begin the
upgrade task.

You guys are great. Again, thank you very much and have a great day.
