Upgrading from Win 98 to Win XP Pro

Is there a way to upgrade from Windows 98 to Windows XP
Pro using a full version Windows XP CD. I do not have a
Windows XP Upgrade CD. I do not want to loose any data or
programs that are installed. I know that some of the
programs may not work afterwards.

I have tried using the Windows XP Professional Full
version CD to upgrade a station from Windows 98 but I do
not get the upgrade option that you get using an upgrade
CD. I ran the regular installation on a copied drive and
I lost my programs/Icon, etc.

As long as it's a retial full version of XP Pro you can do it. If it's an
OEM copy then no you cant.
