"upgrading" from Spanish XPpro to English

R

Rick Schmidt

Hi All:
I have spanish XP Home (retail stand-alone disc)
installed, but want to install English XP pro (retail
upgrade disc) instead.
It will not install, apparently since the Spanish XP is
not a qualifying o/s for this Pro upgrade.

Anyone have any ideas? this is crazy! I just want to
change languages, and I paid lots of money to obtain the
Pro version in the process.

You need to do a Clean Install - that is the only way to change languages.

Following the letter of the EULA, you need a qualifying media in order to
upgrade with an upgrade version - do you have one? Windows XP Pro is not
qualifying media for Windows XP Pro upgrade. heh And you cannot upgrade
form WIndows XP Home in one language to Windows XP Pro in another language.

Did you buy the UPGRADE version of Windows XP Professional or the Full
Retail copy?

Greetings --

You cannot upgrade or convert from one language version of the OS
to another, so you'll have to purchase and use the full version of
English WinXP to perform a clean installation.
