Upgrading from French to English

Guest

Hi,
I have a new PC pre-loaded with Vista Home Premium (French version) and want
to up-grade to Ultimate using a UK-language version. Is this possible? The
reason I wish to do this is to benefit from the UK-based speech recognition
software in Ultimate.

You need to a new clean install since you are changing languages with this Upgrade

please excuse my ignorance but this will effectively wipe my hard drive, yes?

Yes, back up your data first. You will have to reinstall all your
programs as well.

Thanks very much. By the way with regards to software, I have a French
version of Office 2007 which says on the rear of the box that it is only
possible to use on 3 computers. Does this mean that it can only be used three
times, i.e installed three times on seperate machines or does it mean
something else such as networked machines? Thanks again.

It means you can install it on up to three machines and use it as many
times as you like. The machines don't need to be networked or even exist
in the same location, i.e. you can install it on someone else's computer
across town.

Sorry to be a total arse here but here' the deal. I have already installed my
office 2007 software on an old PC I had, a laptop that I still have and this
machine I am using now. Does that mean that I have used up the three
installations? Does this mean that when I do the clean install of Ultimate on
my current PC that I won't be able to use the Office 2007 software and and to
buy new again. like I said, sorry if this is a 'bone' question.

That's your *three installations. The best I can understand though is that
your current PC was one of the three so if you want to use an English
language version of Vista to install on the current PC that is one of the
three, you will still be able to install Office back onto that box.

If you had a different fourth box, then you'd have to make a choice of which
of three boxes you wanted to use for the Office installation.

Good luck,

CH

No, it's the same machine.
like I said, sorry if this is a 'bone' question.

No problem, hope I was of some help.

Thanks. That's perfectly clear.

I don't think so, read the EULA to be sure.

Probably all 3 are for the same family and I suspect the OP has a
Student and Teacher version.
If so, there may be other license limitations.

How the fuçk would Redmond know? And do you really think Redmond would
care as long as the total's only three computers?

Obviously you again missed part of what was said.
Read my post again, particularly the second line referencing the EULA.

Whether Redmond would know, or anyone else for that matter, is not
really relevant.
Most people have integrity and intend to abide by agreements they
accept.

I understood that perfectly.

Of course it is.

LOL! That's a good one, Jupiter. Clicking on something to install
something you paid for and agreeing to an unconscionable "agreement" are
in no way the same thing.

Nope, it's called "tech help", something you and Frank are not capable
of. All you can do is lie and insult people.

Let me straighten you out on something you're really confused about.
Lying to someone is not "tech help"...it's lying...plain and
simple...something you seem to be addicted to.

Being as I didn't lie ... what does that make you?

You're only lying to yourself. Self deception is normal for most atheist
like you.
Keep it up...we all know you're lying.
