Upgrading from 98 to XP

When UPGRADING, say from W98, to Windows XP an existing
MS Access runtime application then fails having previously
run perfectly well on W98? The application also runs
perfectly well on FULL XP licence.

What is it about the UPGRADE which causes the application
to fail? Can I put things right somehow?

I was given to understand that a winxp upgrade was no diferent than a 'new'
version other than it searched for a qualiying product prior to install.
Possibly a problem with MDAC installation, there used to be a component
checker on msdn site, but they seem to have moved it.
You may get a more informed response on one of the ms.public.access ng's
