No autodesk applications work with Windows Vista... at least not right away.
I haven't been able to launch AutoCAD or Revit. I am furious. What were
they thinking? What was I thinking? Stick with XP until Vista is ready.
DON'T GO INTO THE LIGHT!!!

Not a Windows Vista issue - Autodesk need to update THEIR software for use
on Windows Vista.
Did you bother to check if Vista was a supported OS by their products before
you blindly installed it?

Vista is ready NOW - certain software vendors are late in delivering updated
version of THEIR flagship products.

Wrong. I'm running both AutoCad 2000 and AutoCad Map 5 on Vista 32 bit along
with Bentley Microstation v8. On Vista x64, I have AutoCad Map 5 and
Microstation v8 running. The standard SP update for AutoCad under WinXP is
the only update - it will load and run without it. Microstation won't even
say their v8 will run with Vista but it does so very nicely in both x86 and
x64 versions.

So what version are you running?

If you didn't do you homework ahead of time, then it's your fault.
Especially since I see that you are using AutoCAD 2000. You're upset because
an 8 year old program (it was released in 1999) won't work on a brand new
OS?

Well apparently they did manage to get Minesweeper to work under Fista, so
it can't be all that difficult. :-)

Cheers.

The "Wow" starts now.

Windows is not a virus! Viruses are small, efficient and built to get a job
done. Windows on the other hand ...

Another warm, friendly ever so helpful post from another warm caring
MVP. Not!

But that's a Microsoft product - and it's not quite the same as the old
version. ;-)

I don't use these programs, but if you right click and go to the properties
page for the program you should be able to run the program in XP or 2000
compatibility mode.

won't you MVP clowns ever learn ?

Yea, I know, all MY fault
....christ

if the only thing you can EVER offer is "It's your fault" then here's a
clue, stfu

I guess reading comprehension isn't part of the MVP program.

The original poster, the guy with the problem, didn't specify what
version of AutoCAD he is running. It was another poster who has
AutoCAD 2000 running.

So if you are going to blame someone for not doing their homework, do
yours first?

Do you think he gives a "Rats ass" :-)

You now have definitely made it to the **plonk** list on my server

Sorry for the double post. First one did not show up until minutes after I
made the second attempt - 18 hours later.

I don't think it is always the fault of the software maker when their programs
don't work with Vista. If that was always the case, then why does
Microsoft feel the need to release updates such as this;

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932246
March 2007 Windows Vista Application Compatibility Update
March 15, 2007

The March 2007 Windows Vista Application Compatibility Update is a package of software updates
that address common application compatibility issues in Windows Vista.

Yes, something odd has been going on here too, come back Outlook Express,
all is forgiven.

Between Vista mail, WLMD and Hotmail - not to mention the "Live" community
issues I can variously not post, duplicate posts, send (sometimes) receive
(sometimes) but still religiously get spammed :)

Hey, don't have a go at all MVPs, I (for example) never said a word :)

I do agree though that with all the hype etc it is NOT entirely the fault of
the user when things don't work properly.
