64 bit upgrade tool

hello,
Right now i'm running vista ultimate with a Q6600 and 4 gigs of ram.
but i do graphics professionally and video a LOT so the memory is
maxed out already. I'd like to prepare for the future with the 64 bit.
i'm considering upgrading from a 32 bit to a 64 when Win7 is released
later this year.
with what i've researched already, i think my system should be able to
handle it ok, but i was wondering if there were any kind of software
tools that would check a system and advise what will NOT handle it...
along the lines of the vista upgrade tool that was available.

thanks

These sites can help you. I've only had vista for 60 days, and now I'm
downloading Windows 7 RC for a test spin.

If you're running a Q6600, and all your hardware is of the same
vintage, there should be no problem running a 64 bit OS.
Hardware that has had the most difficulty with 64 bit drivers
is older printers and scanners. If you have a pro level
printer, there's usually no problem with x64 drivers. I would
guess, that by the time Win 7 is released this fall, 64 bit
Windows will be the norm for medium and high end systems,
with 32 bit Windows shipped with low end entry systems.

Try the Windows 7 upgrade advisor..

i was hoping there would be something like this, so i was glad you
mentioned it. but unfortunately it didn't really give me too much. it
told me i could run the equivalent of what i already have in a 32 bit,
but didn't mention anything about the 64.
in the performance and tools section on the control panel it says the
processor is ready but that i already knew.
i really only suspect my scanner driver, but since the release
candidate is available still, i'm installing that on to a partition i
just made and just use the OS for a little bit and see where any
issues might lie.
