Upgrade to 64-bit

Hi everybody,
I'm a new kid on the block! I purchased a 32-bit OEM version of Ultimate
Vista and want to upgrade to 64-bit. Does Microsoft offer a low-cost 64-bit
version as it does with the other Vistas?

No. You would need to purchase the 64-bit on the open market.

With OEM, that is what you get.
For retail Ultimate, 32 and 64 bit media are included.
Home Basic, Home Premium and Business can order 64 bit media.
One of the many reasons you paid less for your OEM than retail.

Thanks,
I knew the price was too good to be true!
P.S.
Is it also true that once an OEM O.S. is activated, it is tied to that
particular motherboard?

Basically, yes, it is tied to a particular motherboard. However, if the
motherboard goes belly up, then you can swap in a new one and the license
remains valid according to Microsoft.
