I have w2k on my business machine and I'm finding more and more
programmes need XP and will not run/install on w2k so I'm thinking of
upgrading.Question: I have a 80gb HD and when the machine was setup the
HD was partitioned C:=20gb D:= 60gb,the idea was programes would
install in C:\ and data would be saved in D:\, I was told data backup
would be easier. C: is now full so my question is when I upgrade to XP
Pro can I delete the partion or will I need to save my data and start
fresh.PS I'm now using Acronis Image as my backup.
Thanks SC

If your question is can you keep the D: partition and install XP on the C:
Yes, you can.

The question is can I delete the partition without deleting what is on
D:\

No, of course not. To quote Charles Babbage, "I am not able to rightly
apprehend the kind of confusion of ideas that could provoke such a
question."

If you have an original Win2K installation CD, no problem. If you have a
restore CD, no. You have to have 2K installed in that case. Save all the
data you want to keep to the D: partition irregardless.
