upgradeing ro==from 98 second edition to xp

formatted my hard drive and reinstalled 98 second and wanted to upgrade to xp
pro will not allow me to
 
"will not allow me to" why is it twisting your arm?

Assuming your hw supports winxp why did you not initially prepare your HD
with the winxp cd, commence the install and insert the win98 cd when it
complains. - ie there is no need to install win98 first -
