Upgraded to XP/internet won't work

I recently upgraded from Windows ME to Windows XP Pro and now my networking does not work. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm assuming that your dial-up connection is not working. Please let
me know if I have misunderstood.
Please try the following:
1. Open up IE
2. Go to Tools > Internet Options
3. On the 'connections' tab double click the dial-up connection
4. Clear 'use a proxy server'

Hi,
Do the machines connect directly through the router or through a PC?
If you connect through a router please try setting your LAN connection
to use your ISP's DNS server directly instead of through your router.
1. Go to network connections
2. Open up your LAN connection & choose properties
3. Choose the TCP/IP protocol
4. Click properties
5. At the bottom select 'use the following DNS servers'
6. Type in the DNS server of your ISP.
