I upgraded a windows XP computer that had Office 2000 on it to Office 2007
and when she opended her fax Console her set up info and address book and in
and out fax logs are gone. are they still there or how can i save them or
export them and then import back after i install Office 2007. i did a system
restore and returned it to the day before the Office upgrade and all is back
to where it was. thanks. Roy

It's usually better to uninstall older versions of Office before installing
newer ones; Office Upgrades often have problems. As to the Fax console, the
only effect the upgrade should have had was possibly a missing address book;
Outlook 2007 may not install with the Outlook Address Book service which
would have caused the Contacts folder to not appear as a Fax address book.
It should not have affected the Fax logs.

Fax will use whatever address book is set as the default (for XP, that's set
with either Default Programs or from Internet Options|Programs). Outlook's
contacts are stored in the Personal Folders file, so backing them up would
be done by making a backup copy of the .PST file with Outlook closed. DO
NOT try to import a .PST file (it causes lost data and Outlook Profile
corruption), simply open it with 'File|Open|Outlook Data File', then drag
and drop the contacts from the backup file to the current file.

"Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book" check box is dimmed in Outlook
Contact folder properties
