Upgraded computer with SATA drive, having all sorts of issues.

New MB, processor, etc. New SATA drive. Want to move all of the files etc
from old computer (hard drive).
Old C: drive will not boot without requiring a phone registration. (I am
working off of the old D: drive now, which I installed windows on from my OEM
disk)

But the phone service won't take my number as valid. MS will not talk to me
because I have an OEM version of XP.

Oh, and I can't install XP on the SATA drive. I did the press F6 and
install RAID drivers trick, but it encounters an error writing the key file
viaraid.sys (or dll? I forget), and hangs.

So, I would like to register my old C: drives version of XP and then ghost
that image to the new SATA drive, but cannot get MS to acknowledge that
number or speak to a person. Naturally I am very frustrated.

Computer is/was an Alienware.

Just bought a new socket 939 mb, athlon 64 3400+, and a WD Raptor HD. Now
windows is shutting me down. What can I do?

Can I re-install windows on the old C: drive and use my OEM key? If I do
that will my Outlook with all of my messages and settings still work? Will
that overwrite all of that stuff? Will it just install ANOTHER whole verion
of windows on the HD? ARRGH!

Thanks much for any help....

It is totally wrong to attempt any 'move' of the OEM edition Product ID from
the original PC to a new Mobo.

Please read the Terms and Conditions of your EULA and you will be able to
confirm this for yourself.

To achieve a move from the first PC to the new Mobo, you will need to buy
the Upgarde Edition of XP Pro.
