Upgrade XP Home to XP Pro??

Bob

Hi,

I recently purch'ed a new Laptop replacing my old one(HP
Pavillion ZV500 series) w/ XP Home on it. I have a small
network with server (Win 2000) and 3 nodes (XP Pro on all
nodes). I am finding after setting up the Laptop (by
wireless Lynksis) on the network that I am getting some
major glitches and quirks. My It guy suggested that I
upgrade to XP PRO for my laptop as Home and Pro may not
be compatable.

If anyone has suggestions I have a couple of quests:

1)Where is the best pleace to purchase the specific
upgrade XP Home to XP Pro (Microsoft web site, Best buy,
HP my laptop brand or some other place)?

2)Is it reasonably easy to perform the upgrade and save
settings etc or not, ie self explanitory. Any tips here
would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

He will be wrong. The limitation Home has in networking is not being
able to join an NT Domain. Unless that is the case it should network in
a Workgroup perfectly well with Po. Make sure, in System - Computer
name that they use the same Workgroup name but different Computer Names

If you want to upgrade an HP machine make sure to look up any special
considerations from HP *first*

Otherwise normally an XP Pro *retail Upgrade* CD (Best Buy fine) and run
it from the Home System. Enter Install, continue with Upgrade
