Upgrade XP Home to XP Pro Problem

G

Guest

I just purchased a new Laptop with XP Home SR2 on it to replace another
laptop that the mother board failed on. According to my XP pro license, I can
transfer the XP Pro to the new computer. I have the disks, COA, book,
purchase receipt.
Problem is, how can I upgrade without wiping out the new settings and then
having to reload all the updates since the release of the XP Pro version I
have.
Can not load from disk--receive warning that Upgrade is older than current
version.
I have five copies of XP pro in different formats- latest is SR 1-none seem
to work
I there a way to replece the product Key and license numbers so I can
download the updates from the web?

Peace

You need to create a slipstreamed CD with SP2 on it. Here are links
showing how:

Then you can do the upgrade from Home to Pro. Make sure you back up your
data first because as always with computers, Stuff Happens.
