Upgrade XP Home to Pro on a pre Configured Laptop

I have a Fujitsu laptop that I'm going to run the recovery CD on in order to
bring it to factory "defaults"... thankfully Fujitsu doesn't have a bunch
of crap loaded on their laptop. The recovery CD installs XP Home. In order
to upgrade the Home edition to XP Pro, is all I need to do is to install XP
Pro (with a licensed version I purchased for this upgrade) ??

Then I plan to do a SP2 upgrade, install my utilities & other applications,
and then do a backup with drive image.

I don't know if I'll need to activate the Home edition or if it's
"pre-activated" seeing as how it's a OEM, but if I do, can I skip that until
I have Pro installed or would I need to activate both the Home & the Pro
editions?

Thanks,

David...

Generally, a computer manufacturer's Recovery CD will not
require activation since it is BIOS-locked to a specific computer.
If you are prompted to activate, then you'll have to activate it
before upgrading to Windows XP Professional.

To make your upgrade easier, create a new Windows XP Pro
CD with SP2 slipstreamed and then upgrade.

Either one of the following utilities makes slipstreaming
(integrating) SP2 into Windows XP a breeze:

Thanks Carey,

I've been meaning to slipstream a CD for the past several months, now that I
have neneed I've done it and am glad. You were correct about not requiring
activation on the OEM copy of XP Home. Seeing as how I've never restored a
PC this way and just wasn't sure about the process, I wanted to know what to
expect before I got started.
