upgrade to windows xp being blocked

When installing xp on 98 im blocked by windows shared fax client. I
don't really get 98 and im having some trouble. everyone ells says i
need to turn on hidden files, accessed by tools in the control panel.
What tool. I see no tools drop down bar. nothing says tools. what
now.

Any special reason you are upgrading instead of performing a clean
installation?
I would think - with a machine that is likely as old as this one - you would
be better off.

Make Sure Your Hardware and Software Are Compatible
Use the compatibility search tool or download the Upgrade Advisor to make

install updates if available.
