Upgrade to W2K problem - PowerEdge Server 2400?

I am trying to upgrade Dell PowerEdge Server 2400 which has a Dell Perc 2/Si
RAID controller, from WinNT to Win2K.

When the server is booting up, it says 2/Si controller - which means that my
server has a Perc 2/Si RAID controller!!!

Now, I downloaded the Perc 2/Si W2K drivers and a firmware upgrade from Dell
website. When I try to upgrade firmware, it says the files are not
compatible. The drivers also don't get installed.
When I insert and boot from the Win2K CD, it does not find and Hard Disk.

What could be wrong?

Thanks.

Im not sure why the firmware upgrade is not working, usually the download is
a file that makes a boot disk. with that boot disk you boot with it to
upgrade the firmware for the controller. The driver disk is the same, you
need to download the file and make a boot disk with it, its a executable that
will prompt you to make this disk.
When you installing w2k, as the setup starts you hit f6 when it prompts for
additional driver. Then put the disk in, and point it to the a drive and pick
the correct controller. If this doesnt work, you probably are not using the
right driver.

Thanks for the reply. I think I am doing exactly what you mentioned.

How do I know for sure - what exact RAID controller I have?

Is 2/Si a specific controller model or just a type of controller that is
manufactured by several companies? I am thinking if I have an Adaptec Perc
2/Si controller and I am trying to install drivers for a Dell Perc 2/Si
controller.

Thanks.

Adaptec produces this controller for Dell. Usually it is referred to as a
Dell Perc 2/Si.

In order to upgrade to the latest firmware for the controller, your system
BIOS must be A09 or later. Also, your controller firmware must be 2.6 or
later, before installing version 2.8. You might need to upgrade firmware in
steps to accomplish this.

Here's a link to firmware 2.8:
