Cannot view newly created partition in explorer

I have upgraded raid 5 disks on a Dell 2650 with a perc 3 d raid controller
and windows 2000 server sp4 and latest patches on it.

I created the new container for the disks in the controller and initailised
them and formatted the raid container ok using the dell software.

When viewing the raid array (dell open mange disk manager) it shows up ok
and is healthy.

When I try to create a new basic windows disk (in disk manager console), it
says healthy and that is is formated, but when I right clock to view in
explorer it says unavaillable.

Likewise when I open windows explorer the disk is not shown there and only
the other raid 1 partitions which where unchanged are there (system drive)

anyone any ideas why this is happening ?

While in Disk Manager, assign a drive letter to the new partition.

Sorry meant to add I had already assigned the drive letter (E) to the
partition when I created it in disk manager.

I am planning to restore from backup contents of old partition to this
partition.

I did have one thought, would windows report partition as healthy whilst the
array has still not built it yet (in the other raid drives) ? Or would that
have no affect on this. (the array size was 3 X 140 GB drives)

If so I'll check it again tomorrow.

Fixed it

Resynched the disk array and rebooted the server, after that the disk
appeared in windows explorer and was able to write to it.
