Upgrade to Vista blocked by Maxtor 7L250S0 - XP SP2 Regedit blocked

Maxtor 7L250S0 One Touch III external 1394 software installs and is
registered and prevents the Vista upgrade,

"Close Windows installation and contact the device manufacturer for
updated driver software for these devices: SCSI and RAID controllers:
Maxtor 7L250S0 "

The One Touch install disk has no uninstall choice nor one hidded on
the CD

Seagate's (now Maxtor owner) website has no uninstall and recommends
against Registry edits but offers Registry Keys to search for
deletion.

Problem - Regedit is blocked from deleting the Maxtor keys.
HK_Local_Machine\System\ControlSet001\Enum\1394\MaxtorOneTouch etc.
HK_Local_Machine\System\ControlSet002\Enum\1394\MaxtorOneTouch etc.
HK_Local_Machine\System\ControlSet003\Enum\1394\MaxtorOneTouch etc.

"Cannot delete Maxtor&OneTouch_IIIm: Error while deleting key."

Is there a known work around to actually delete these keys?

Looks like you lack the permissions allowing key deletions.

While this KB article is for a slightly different topic, it does have the
method for changing permissions on specific registry keys.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/873148

First, though, power down and physically detach the devices. Do not
re-attach them till after the upgrade is complete and successful.
