upgrade to office 2003 has lost me my modem selection

I have just installed office 2003 to OS windows 2000
professional.
now I cannot use my dial up? although when Iam asked to
choose a modem I can bring up the lists of modems and
highlight it but the system willnot pick it? do I have to
reinstall office 2000 for this to work?

What does hardware devices show, with regard modem?
And in Control Panel/Modems is yr modem shown, under advanced, query the
modem
O2003 should have no impact on modem.
