Upgrade to MS XP Media Edition SP3 disables all backups?

Today MS automatically upgraded my MS XP Media Edition SP2 to SP3. This
resulted in BOTH my Genie Backup Manager 8 and Norton Ghost 14 not being able
to do a streaming backup to my external drive.

I am able to copy folders manually to that external drive and did a complete
defrag. I use the Seagate FreeAgent 500 Gb drive and used its own software to
test it and it is just fine.

I read somewheere that I would have to start the Removable Storage service
using the System Services Function of the Management Console.

I located the Management Console but cannot find the System Services
Function there.

I can alway just copy important data files daily and copy my entire My
Documents Folder once per week. That works. However, I would like to use my
two backup programs instead: Genie for "My Documents" and Norton Ghost for
the entire "C" Drive.

Does anyone know how to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I uninstalled Genie Backup Home Manager 8.0 and Norton Ghost 14.0 and then
reinstalled them. Now my backups work fine. Evidently upgrading MS Windows
XP SP2 to SP3 required this.
