Upgrade Singlen License Question

I just upgraded my single license version of Office XP Pro to a single
license Office Pro Ed. 2003. I would like to know if the former Office XP
Pro was deactivated by Microsoft when installing Office Pro 2003? I would
like give my old version of Office XP Pro to a friend. Help appreciated.

That would depend on a few things...
did you purchase the 'upgrade' version or full version?
if full version, are either copies OEM or are they both Retail?

Both are full retail versions.
