Upgrade question

N

No.Thanks

Having never purchased an upgrade before I was wondering the
following: If I upgrade my Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Ultimate would
I still be able to use the Vista version on another machine? Thanks.

If Vista was OEM - included with the PC when you first imported it, then it
cannot be installed on any other PC. If it was purchased in a retail store,
technically it becomes part of the Windows 7 installation, so again, legally
the answer is no.

Thanks for the reply. Well that stinks! :) I was hoping to put my
retail version of Ultimate on my wife's computer but I do understand
their reasoning. Thanks again.

No. When one uses an Upgrade license, the older license that's used as
a qualifying product for the Upgrade license cannot legitimately be used
anywhere else, as it becomes subsumed by, and an inseparable part of,
the upgrade.

You'd have to purchase another Vista license to go on the second
computer.
