upgrade ME to 2k prof. from dual boot ME-XPhome

my system is dual boot ME-XP home, Me is in boot drive
(c). I want to upgrade only Me to 2k prof. and still keep
XP home.
is there any way to do that?

1. Save these hidden files somewhere else on your hard disk:
- c:\ntdetect.com
- c:\ntldr

2. Install Win2000 on drive C:.

3. Boot into Win2000.

4. Restore the two files to c:\.

It's not technically possible to perform an upgrade from WinMe to
Win2K, as WinME is the newer OS. You'll have to back up your data and
start with a clean, freshly formatted partition.

After you've installed Win2K, MS-MVP Doug Knox's instructions will
help you restore the dual-boot:
