Upgrade installation from 98 to 2K Pro

Help !!
Toward the end of the installation I receive a error
message WINNT 32 caused an invalid page fault in module
Kernel 32.DLL It will now close.
I cannot continue with the upgrade. Any assistance will be
appreciated. Please be specific with step by step
instructions so that I may complete the installation.

I get this error too. Have checked the knowledge article
at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-
US;252725
wihch seemed a likely culprit but still getting the same
problem. Any more suggestions. (other than doing a clean
install which would be a LOT of extra work)

Did you look at the Setupact.log file created by setup? This should give a
clue as to what .dll is causing the issue. Look at "More Information" in
the 252725 article. These programs are not the only ones that will cause
this problem, just the most common.

Did you look at the Setupact.log file created by setup?

This should give a clue as to what .dll

Nothing about dlls in there.

A lot of lists of upgrade pcaks and so forth but nothing
that looks relevant to the problem.

I did see the following in there but have no idea what it
means or if it's related.

COMMIG_INFO: Process attach.. Error code = 0x0
COMMIG_INFO: Failed to open the setup key of MTS
<SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Transaction Server\Setup(OCM)>!. Error
code = 0x2
COMMIG_INFO: Process detach.. Error code = 0x0
