I get messages about this if I try to install programing
that is supposed to be Windows XP compatible. Latest
example is a updated driver for DVC323 Kodak cam. I
downloaded this driver from Kodak Support. My Windows XP
gave me a statement that it was not supported in Windows
XP, It could cause my computer to not act properly and to
contact the vendor fo the proper driver. Also this driver
did not state it was for Windows XP but Windows 2000
although the web site stated it was for both versions.

Quite a few drivers from manufacturers don't have XP certification but that
does not mean they will not work - it just means MS has not checked them and
given them the all clear.

If MS does not provide a good alternative and the manufacturer is well
known/repected you should be OK using their drivers even if XP warns you. Go
ahead and install - if you do get problems you can always roll back the
driver anyway to what you currently have.

Eh? Whats this got to do with the question?

He's taking about drivers from manufactures when there is nothing on the MS
update.
