upgrade Home Editon to Prof.

Question.
I have XP home Edition with SP2 installed. I want to upgrade this to XP
professional.
But get the message that the current version (XP Home edition SP2) is newer
then the upgrade version.
I asume that the SP2 is the cause of this message? What can I do?
uninstall SP2 and then upgrade to prof and install SP2.

I would guess (but don't know for sure) that your speculation is correct,
and the last line of your post answers your own question: uninstall SP2 and
then upgrade to prof and install SP2.

That's what I would try, anyway.

Take you Windows Pro CD and copy xxx:\i386 directory to your hard drive.

Download the full, network install version of SP2

Locate instructions on how to "slipstream" SP2 in to Windows XP install CD.

You have SP2 installed, and your XP Professional Upgrade is
without it, so is an older version than what's installed.

You have two choices:

1. Uninstall SP2, do the upgrade, then reinstall SP2.

2. Create a slipstreamed version of XP Professional, including
SP2, and use it. See
