Upgrade from XP Pro to XP Media Center

I am trying to upgrade from XP Pro to XP Media Center and I'm having a
problem. Install goes fine but now it says it needs to activate. "When it
tries, msoobe.exe application error - memory could not be written." Whether I
select "ok" or "cancel" it goes back to the Windows login screen and starts
the process over. Anyone have an answer?

First - you are not 'upgrading'.

At best - moving from Windows XP Professional to Windows XP Media Center
gives you the media center components and loses you some domain
connectivity. Also - Windows XP Media Center is OEM only - meaning you
cannot use it to 'upgrade' anything. In short - Windows XP Media Center is
Windows XP Professional with some features (domain join capability for one)
removed and some features added (Media Center Applications.)

So - are you saying you purchased an OEM of Windows XP Media Center to move
to (install clean) on your computer and used the product key you purchased
with it and now you are having issues activating because of memory read
errors?

Tested your hardware - in particular - your memory?

YES, EXCEPT MEMORY WRITE ERRORS.

I managed to start in safe mode w/ a command prompt and delete IE7 which
allowed me to boot and activate. Now I'm experiencing a svchost.exe issue w/
memory write errors. Looking into that now.

Let me repeat...
