Upgrade from Win 2000 professional

I've upgraded several of our family PC's from 95, 98, Me.
I finally decided to update two of my Win 2000 machines.
I was disappointed to note that the intall exe file didn't
offer an "upgrade" option. So I forged ahead anyway.
What a mess! I've lost all my preferences, programs, and
desktop. There's got to be an easier way.

Hi,

If you upgraded from the 9X systems to Windows XP home, then it is possible. It is not possible to
upgrade Windows 2000 professional to Windows XP home. You can only upgrade to Windows XP home. More

This should have read;

It is not possible to upgrade Windows 2000 professional to Windows XP home. You can only upgrade to Windows XP Pro.
