upgrade from vista business to ultimate fails.

Hi, I have a upgrade CD from business--->ultimate but it fails.
I got sp1 rc (latest) installed.

Vista business works fine but when I run the upgrade advisor Im told ATI
Mobilty radeon HD 2300 128 mb dont works , but Im already have vista business
running fine as said.
Theres no special errormsg it just says after a reboot the amchine is back
to business.

What can I do?

You should check with HP to see if this upgrade is supported. It may be that
the HP computer has a non standard boot sector to facilitate the factory
restore procedure. I have seen a similar upgrade fail on a Toshiba laptop.
The upgrade would proceed right to the end of the upgrade then fail writing
the boot sector and roll everything back. I had to remove the Toshiba
restore partition and create a standard Vista boot sector before the upgrade
would work. This is not for the faint of heart. It is a complicated
procedure that requires the use of 3rd party tools. I used Acronis True
Image, Acronis Disk Director, and the command line tools on a Vista
installation DVD. If you attempt this make sure you have at least two
verified images of the whole disk including the factory restore partition.
Also make sure you have created the factory restore CD/DVD's. It is very
easy to get a non-bootable computer when doing this.

Another possibility is the antivirus program. On the same computer I had to
completely uninstall Norton Internet Security before the upgrade would
complete.

partition made my HP in my case.

Vista to another in the situation when one of the versions came installed
from the factory.

Lots of stuff about OEM installs - most untrue.

Assuuming (bad word) you havfe a legitimate version.

Regarding "...I got sp1 rc (latest) installed..." - may be one reason for
failure. Required KBs for RC1 modify Vista's Windows Installer.

1.the ugrade adviser tells the best for me should be "ultimate", I did the
test again 5 mins ago.that change so I shall try again and see
2. I got a legitime version
3.the sp1 can be the reason

I was using a retail upgrade version when I had the problem. I don't think
it would be any different if you used the retail full version. The problem
is with the non-standard boot sector, not the version of Vista. Note that
this is not the case with all OEM computers that come with vista. Some will
upgrade with no problems. I don't know how you could tell ahead of time.
