upgrade from Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2003 but not the whole office

Hi,

Can someone give us some advice:

We somehow need to upgrade only the Outlook part of the office suite - from
Outlook 2002 to Outlook 2003. And we plan to upgrade using Group Policy in
our Windows 2k3 AD domain environment. Do understand the pros and cons of
the upgrade as described in the following link:
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2003/upgrade.htm

Can someone, if possible, let us know the how-tos or some directions?

Create an administrative installation of Office and an mst-file to specify
what you install and with which settings. Than create deploy policy.

Roady,
Thanks for pointing out the directions.
correct me if I am wrong. I think you meant the following procedure:

I. create an administrative installation point
Can I use the procedure mentioned in the link? (which is for XP but I guess
similar):
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;308384&sd=tech

To distribute Office from a network server, you must first install the
Enterprise version of Office XP (The Enterprise version of Office XP can be
obtained from Microsoft Worldwide Fulfillment (WWF) or from Select media) on
an administrative installation point by running Setup with the /a
command-line option. Then you can customize your Office XP configuration
before running Setup on users' computers.
To create an administrative installation point for Office:
1. Create a share on a network server for the administrative installation
point.
The network share must have at least 650 megabytes (MB) of available
hard-disk space.
2. On a computer that has write access to the share, connect to the server
share.
The computer must be running a supported operating system: Microsoft Windows
2000 or later, Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0 Service Pack 6a, Microsoft Windows
Millennium Edition (Windows Me), or Microsoft Windows 98.
3. On the Start menu, click Run, and then click Browse.
4. On the Office XP Enterprise CD, double-click setup.exe and add /a to the
command line.
5. Enter the organization name that you want to define for all users who
install Office from this administrative installation point.
6. Enter the server and share you created as the installation location.
7. Enter the 25-character Product Key assigned to your organization and
click Next.
You must enter a valid Volume License Product Key when you create the
administrative installation point. This will disable Product Activation for
end-users who install Office XP from this administrative image.
8. Accept the end-user license agreement and click Install.
By accepting the agreement here, you are accepting on behalf of all users
who install Office from this administrative installation point.
Setup copies the files from the Office XP CD to the administrative
installation point, extracts the compressed cabinet (CAB) files, and creates
a hierarchy of folders in the root folder of the share. The System Files
Update is automatically included during an administrative installation.

II. One advantages of using administrative installation point is that when
doing patcing - Again, correct me if I am wrong!

you can apply it directly to the administrative installation. Then, to patch
your clients, you simply do the following:
• Open the Install Office GPO and select your previously created Office
software installation policy under Computer Configuration\Software
Settings\Software Installation.
• Right-click on your software installation policy and select All Tasks ->
Redeploy Application.

III. Regarding creating an MST file, do I use the Custom Installation
Wizard from ORK? We are not very savy in this area, any step-by-step
articale/link will be very helpful

Appreciate your help. Have a nice holiday.
