upgrading to office 2007 products from office 2002 (XP)

newbie here, and somewhat technologically challenged..... OK very challenged.
I have Office 2002 (Excel, Powerpoint, Oultlook and Word) and have never
used them much. I now want to join the modern era and synch Outlook to my
Blackberry. I need Outlook 2003 or 2007 to do this. My question is.....
can I upgrade Outlook only, and if do that, will it be compatible with the
older versions of the others? Or do I need to upgrade the entire suite so it
all works together? Thanks! Jane

Depends really whether you are going to use eg Word
Ideally the whole suit should be upgraded for full intergration
You can buy a standalone version of Outlook (you cannot buy an outlook
upgrade) but it wont intergrate fully with the earlier versions of the
Office apps
And you may find buying an upgrade version of Office is more cost effective
than buying the individual components
