When you start the upgrade you will be given the choice
whether to upgrade your Drive to NTFS. At this time my
belief is that you can't create specific partitions. You
would need to do this after XP is installed. if you wanted
to do it prior you would need a program such as Partition
Maker to do this for you.

You will have the choice of staying with fat32 or converting to ntfs. If you
switch to ntfs, on an upgrade, you will not have the option to uninstall
back to 98 in the future.

Yes, but again, it's your choice.

XP can operate in either invironment and can read either format.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend an upgrade. You end up taking bad
stuff from the registry, not getting rid of it.

Best thing is to backup, then do a clean install and reinstall your sw
and configs.

i found it best to install system and system related sw on a
5Gpartition and use the rest for programs and data. that way if you
need to reinstall only the 5G partition is affected.
It also makes it easy to Ghost the system partition onto another drive
w/o consuming a lot of space.

Do not convert to NTFS or you will have the cluster disaster. Backup all of
your important stuff and format to NTFS and perform a clean install. This
can be done with an upgrade disk. NEVER upgrade from a win9x/me based os to
an NT/2K/XP based OS kernel.
