Yesterday I received a broadcast from my broadband ISP to
check the Windows Site for critical upgrades. I
downloaded these (15 including: Windows XP Service Pack
(Express); 821557 Security Update; 819639 Flaw in Windows
Media Player; 815021 Security Update;823980 Security
Update; 823559 Security Update; 919696 Security Update;
817606 Security Update; 818529 Cumulative Patch for IE6;
330994 Security Update for Outlook Express; 821557
Security Update; 811493 Security Update; Q817287 Critical
Update).
There was a message that there was a problem with the
driver for the Yamaha sound card which I preseumed I
could ignore but now I realise that it was critical
because my Toshiba Satellit Pro 6100 (with I now know a
Yamaha YMF753 sound card) cannot play the files in my
media library nor file from an audio CD. As well I tried
a DVD and it insists that I am no longer in the Austrlian
Zone and cannot play it (Video Card nVIDIA Geoforce TM
420GO graphic controller)
Please help. I have reinstalled a download of Win Media
Player 9 but of course that did not help.
