hello that sounds good, because it doesn't seem to be a supported upgrade
path from windows 2000 advanced server to the windows 2003 standard server!
but you say it should work? i got different answers from different persons.
i just want to be sure!
thx

Cristiane,

As long as it's the same language, you should not have a problem upgrading
from Windows 2000 Server to 2003. See the following article reference link
for more details.

This article reference link below provides you a presentation which may be
very helpful for you to review.

Since your have a German language version of Windows 2000 Server, it would
be best for you to call the local Microsoft office to consult before
upgrading. If not possible since I'm by no means an expert in this subject
matter of upgrading localized languages, then I'll try to assist you to the
best of my ability.

As I understand it from reading the following to article reference links
below, you might have to change the Language and Locale setting in Control
Panel. I personally have not tried it, which is the reason I recommended
consulting with you local Microsoft Technical Support in your area.

These other article reference links are the only reasons I've been able to
find why an upgrade to Windows Server 2003 would fail.

hello but the articel states that a
Windows 2000 Advanced Server
has to be updated with a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition and not with
a windows server 2003 standard edition. so it shouldn't work after that

so it means it doesn't work!!!! only because of 4 processors in the past.
next time you should design your products better especially the update
procedure and possiblities .
it costs me 2000 usd more to get the software, for nothing i need!
or i buy a new server which i don't need to transfer all the informtion and
another week to get everything working again.
another task is removing the terminal services from the sbs server 2003 is a
downgrade in comparison to the 2000 sbs.

You need to upgrade appropriately.

Windows 2000 to Windows Server 2003 Standard
Windows 2000 Advanced to Windows Server 2003 Enterprise.
