Updating and re-installing W2K

Help!
I am running a dual boot system with Win 2000 and Linux ,
with an NTL broadband web connection. I have three
browsers installed in Windows: Opera, Firefox and
Explorer, none of which will allow me to access secure
sites (this includes MS Update).With Mozilla in the Linux
OS I have no problems.This seems to point to a problem
with Win2K, though Symantec AV gives a clear bill of
health.
I have tried to re-install Win2K but get the
message, 'there are incomplete program installations;
installation cannot proceed', but the program that is
supposed to run on re-boot to solve the problem doesn't
run. Any suggestions?

Which distro and version of Linux and which boot loader
are you using. I have had no success using LILO and NTFS
partitions.
