I'm trying to update my 98 SE to XP Home, but am not having much success. At
first, it wouldn't install from my CD Burner, but I switched to an older CD
player and it worked. Then, I had some compatability warnings, but was told
I could go ahead and install XP and then correct them. I stopped the
installation and got updated drivers for my scanner, modem and digital camera
and uninstalled my Norton software. Things were looking up for awhile. It
went all the way thru to installing XP before I got the blue stop screem with
the following error:
***STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005,0xF72FE509,0xF97DA9E0,0xF97DA6E0)

***sysaudio.sys - Address F72FE509 base at F72F7000, DateStamp 3d6de2dd

Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete.

My computer works fine running 98. No problems. My audio works fine..cds
play. If it's because the drivers aren't updated how can I do it before
installing XP. I tried and the program that was updating the drivers said it
couldn't finish because I wasn't running the right Windows version. If this
is the problem, then I'm in a quandry...if I can't update the drivers to XP
ones before I install XP and XP won't install unless the drivers are
updated.....HELP!!!!!! I really need to get this working because in addition
to buying the XP update, I foolishly bought Office 2003 thinking there would
be no problem in updating from 98 since I'd never had one before in any other
Windows update. Oh, well ...live and learn, but if anyone has any
suggestions I'm all ears...Thanks
