For some reason I can't download these updates. Keep getting an application
fault message. I am using xp home with sp1.

Try downloading the software from the Windows Update Catalog instead:
"How to Download Windows Updates and Drivers from the Windows Update
Catalog on Windows XP" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=323166).
