Please, please can someone help.

I am using Vista Home perm, and now EVERYTIME my computer boots up it goes
through the configuring updates screen and takes 20 mins to boot, as when I
shut it down it states confirgruing updates.

It just started doing it, how can I stop this, without a rebuild?

I have restored it to 5 days ago and it appears to have worked thank you.

I have set to auto updates to download and ask me when to install, so I hope
that helps
