I foolishly allowed all of the updates that Microsoft
said I need to be downloaded and installed. Now some of
my programs either don't function or run slowly and I
have to reboot in order to quit some programs.

I have a list of all of the updates that were installed
and would like to uninstall those that I don't really
need but I can't find a good listing of what each one was
for.

Also, if I choose to reinstall one I have no choice
except to redownload, right?

Why can't I download and THEN choose what to install?
I'd like to be able to download updates and install them
myself, one at a time, until I find the one that causes
the problem. I hate to redownload them all--what should
I do?

Having your anti-virus application and/or other Windows processes running
when you install updates can cause this, Pat. Windows Update.log and/or
iuhist.xml will show you the updates. Those that can be uninstalled will be
found in Add/Remove Programs.

Consider setting a Restore Point before installing updates.
