Updates since SP3

Daniel- Sydney

Hi

I just installed XP Home and updated it to SP3.

The PC has a very slow internet connection so I do not wan to do automatic
updates.

Is there a site I can go to download all updates since SP3 so I can download
them on a fast
PC then burn them to a disk and install them on the slow PC.

thanks

One option - since you clearly have access to a site with a highspeed
connection - is to just move the PC to the high-speed site (you only need to
take the box), get the updates, and then take the PC back.

Since that PC's home has a low-speed connection, you don't want automatic
updates on. Turn it, and the notification, off, and check manually.

Yes use this software to download all the patches and then put them on your
flashdrive to use it on your machine that needs to be patched.

I would emphasize that patching anything with Microsoft updates is risky and
IMHO patches are not required if you have SP3 and your firewall is
configured to "allow no exceptions". You also need a good anti-virus
software like MSE downloaded manually with updates. { I have not installed
any updates post SP3 and I have no intention of doing so. If it is good for
me it is good for any rational individual.}

Patches will slow down your system and frustration will build up resulting
in you banging your machine rendering it useless!

The Microsoft Security web site lists them all in chronological order
and you can follow the links to download them manually.
