Updates prompt non-stop

For the past 3 days I've been notified of updates being available (WinVista
HomePremium, DellXPS1330). When I shut down it says it's installing the
update but when the system is back up, the same notice stays on in the lower
right box.
I checked and it keeps reinstalling the same update (Security Update for
Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 SP2 KB936181). The update history says that
it was successful six times already!
What is going on???

Try downloading it and install manually to see if it corrects the update
issue:

Hello Andre - I don't understand why you sent me a link to that update (from
2003 and not for Vista). Please clarify.

Thanks, Andre. However, when I tried to manually download the file I
received an error [Error opening installation log file. Verify that the
specified log file locatoin exists and is writable]
I have no idea what this means.
Help again, please.
