Updates modify System Tray

Since installing one of the most recent Security Updates from MS
(WindowsXP-KB871250-x86-ENU or WindowsXP-KB891711-x86-ENU) there are several
icons representing running applications that are missing from my System Tray.
The programs are still running, still listed in the Startup folder, and
msconfig. They just don't seem to be in the tray where they were before.
What's the deal? Is there going to be a patch for the patch, or do I have to
once again dive into the morass of KB articles to try to find some mention of
this effect and perhaps another Hotfix that will probably create its own set
if issuse?
Any guidance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

It would be helpful if you were to mention the applications in question. I
have installed most of the updates and have not noticed any "missing" icons.

If the updates was the removal of malicious programs/codes, then those
application may have been removed, since they were considered
spyware/trojans.

Bill is right I'm getting the same kind of issue.

For me: Upon login the system goes to load the desktop and the DT loads fine
but the system tray icons do not fully load. I'm missing the sound tray icon
and usually the wi-fi and lan connectivity icons, also the NAV internet
security and the regular 2004 NAV icons.

If I log out and back in again they all seems to reappear and the programs
themselves are running. Just and issue with missing sys tray icons is a
little disconcerting. Makes me feel as though my NAV is corrupt or not
function so I constantly check it and have run NAV from boot and done a scan
too. All scans seem to be coming up clean.

If anyone knows the issue and/or a fix please chime in.
