Updates are on Microsoft Update!!

After installing Windows Defender Beta2 this morning it kept saying that my
signature files were out of date.

I tried some of the suggestions listed in earlier posts in this group but
nothing worked.

I decided to check out Microsoft Update and there the new signatures were.
I downloaded and installed them and all is good!

You need to go to Microsoft Update, not Windows Update.

Windows Defender Version: 1.1.1051.0
Engine Version: 1.1.1185.0
Signature Version: 1.0.0.0

this is the signatures i have in my sistem, on the site of Mister Paul-
"supersite", have more signatures i dont known if is my problem or the beta,
i tried windows update, check for updates and the program said i dont have
any updates

Still doesn't detect any updates - and why in the heck are there 2 MS/Windows
update sites? This is as confusing as different MS and KB tags for the same
issue!

There are two sites because of the following:

Windows update was an older technology that only patched Windows OS. Hense
the need for the Office Update site. So there were 2 sites in the beginning.

They have moved forward with their update technology and now it is Microsoft
Update, which can update ANY Microsoft Product, includeing Defender (which
the older update could not).

If you had read the box on the right side of the screen on the Windows
Update site, you would see the information on the newer Microsoft Update.

As for running WSUS server, this is something that falls outside of the
scope of either Windows or Microsoft Update, since it is a managed solution
and not used in a Single user / Home Enviroment.
