Updates and Security alerts

I used to be able to get Windows XP updates with no
problem. But for the past few weeks, All I get is a
message saying that there is some kind of error. The error
number quoted is 0X80072EFD. What does that mean?

I have recently been getting Securtity Alerts when I
attempt to go to certain pages. The pages I cannot get to
ALL are preceeded by the following message:

You are aobu tto view a page over a secure connection.

Any informatin you exchange with this site cannot be
viewed by anyone else on the Web.

There is a check box that I leave blank. The text is:

In future do not show this warning.

I always click OK. But all that happens is the 'Page
Unavailable' page.

What can I do to correct these problems?

I have no idea how I got to the page to enable me to post
this message. So, if I have to get to some site to read
any helpful replies, I will never find it. So, if you can

You receive an "Error 0x80072EE2" or "Error 0x80072EFD" error message when
you try to use Windows Update

If you have Norton Internet Security or something similar installed
(e.g. some 3rd party firewall as mentioned in the article above),
you might need to reconfigure or disable it.
