i reinstalled windows xp and updated MS Office to the 2003 version. i can't
see any of my old emails in outlook. i still have all of my files on my hard
drive. i see a office outlook data file that says outlook.pst. how do i
access it. it says that it could be harmful, but i really need to see if my
important emails are in there. As of now i don't have any in Outlook. I
also have an achive office data file there, but i don't know how to exactly
get in them.

Also, i had my new emails set up to go in Outlook express, but i want to use
MS Outlook instead...how do i do that?

Please help me somebody!!!!

What do you mean you dont have OL?
Did you not install it when you installed Office 2003?
If so insert cd, add components and install OL

Start OL it will either create a new pst or find and use the old one.
Add accounts
If it didnt find the old pst use File>Open>Data File and locate the old pst
In Internet options set OL as the deafult mail handler, stop using OE.

OL?? What is that? Is that outlook and OE is that Outlook express? Well i
have them on my computer but the are not working properly. i can send but
not receive emails in outlook. do you have a direct emaill address and i can
print screen to show you the error messages i have been getting....?

OL = Outlook

Within OL, select Email Accounts> highlight the 'name'> change> Test Account
settings.
Post any error msgs

ok...i did the test, but there were no errors there. i get errors when
send/receive runs, and it says there is an internal error. also when i try
to uninstall/change MSOffice in the add/remove programs, it says: 'This patch
package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and
thatyou can access it, or contact application vendor to verify that this is a
valid Windows Installer patch package.' When i do a detect and repair, it
also says the same thing. Is there something wrong with Windows Installer
too? i downloaded a update for it, but i don't think that worked. I even
tried to do a office update, and got this message: Office Update is
unable to check for updates
The Office Update site is unable to check for updates on this computer. This
may be happening because of one of the following reasons:

You do not have administrative privileges for this computer.
There is a network problem and the detection catalog used by the Office
Update site failed to download. Go back to the Downloads home page and try
running detection again.
Windows Installer patch files (.MSP files) from previously applied

If you have anymore suggestions, please let me know....Thankx.
