Update site displayed inJapanese

DavidHHHHHHH

I had this problem before and forget how i fixed it. I
am in Japan on and XP Japanese OS. Today when I went to
check for updates, Microsoft in their infinite wisdom
decided that I needed to use the Japanese site instead of
the US English site. I guess Ishould defer to their
wisdom, but I kinda wanna know what I am downloading.

Does anyone know how to set the Update site to English?
If I go trhu the US home page, it still sends me to the
Japanese site.

David;
Microsoft did not change anything.
Go to Regional Settings in the Control Panel and set accordingly.

Thanks, but regional setting remains US---it hasn't been
change. This actually was at the US update site 5 hours
ago. Nothing was changed by me, but it is stuck back on
the Japanese site again and I can't get it off of it.
Cannot even go to the US site at all---am redirected to
the Japanese site.I have had this problem several times
in the past and as I recall, I had to go somewhere in the
MS site to change the settings for the updates, but I
cannot find that now.

I found it. I have to manaully enter the MS update site
address in the search bar to get there and reset it as
default by entering it in the favorites list. trying to
get there thru any other MS site results in being
directed to the Japanese page. I don't know how this
keeps happening, but nothing has been changed on my side
that I am aware of---passport still lets me log in in
English. When new, it sends you to the Japanese version
of Passport until it is changed to US. It has never
switched back, but the update site does.

To continue to answer my own question, the MS udpate site
in English has changed. There are now 2 options--one is
express updates, the other is custom updates. This has
just changed. I suspect MS did cause my English page to
go back to the Japanese page. The problem coincided with
that change nearly exactly.

David;
In that case Microsoft did it.
Your update software was updated to v5 from v4.
You should see v5 in the address bar at the top.

My fix won't work anyway. Everytime I shut down IE now
and restart and check update, and am back to the %$#&&%%
&&##$$ Japanese page. So I guess the software was
updated. Will have to shut off automatic updates again. I
am not an MS basher, but it is becoming easy to get po'd
at that comapny.
